I met Maureen, "Mo" in 1994 when I was a patient in the burn unit. Even then I remembered her as one of the sweetest people I had ever met. Fast forward 25 years and she has been one of the kindest and compassionate nurses we have. She has worked here for nearly 75,000 hours, two reasons, each by themselves deserving of the DAISY Award.
In my three years working with Mo, I've gotten to see firsthand the kind, caring, empathetic person she is to not only her patients but also to her co-workers. She treats everyone with respect. Maureen has been with Hennepin Healthcare for 42 years and she is passionate about burn care and is a great teacher. She is a mentor to me and other burn staff. She is always willing to help out. She is the supportive ear to our patients when they need her.
I have been going to the burn unit daily for the past month. Mo stands out as someone who really cares about her patients. She has a very personal touch about her and makes an effort to get to know you. She is very skilled in her profession and makes you feel comfortable that you are in good hands.
