I have worked in the Opiate Recovery Program for just a little over a year now and I have been here to see the change this program can make in our patients' lives. I understand addiction now more than I ever have and I owe that all to Maureen Mulcahy. She took the time to not only teach me the tools I needed to be proficient in my role when I first started this position, but she went above and beyond to show me things about addiction, just so I would understand our patients on a more personal level. This is the way Mo works.
Mo is very personal with each patient she interacts with daily, she puts herself in their shoes, and she is very compassionate with every story they tell her. She truly is an extraordinary person to work with. We have many success stories of patients that have become clean and free of substance abuse. I truly believe it could not have been accomplished without the help and support of not only the MD and medical staff in general, but without Mo being there for these patients and being a great listener, and supporter, case manager, nurse, and overall compassionate person. I know this is what Mo loves to do; this is not just a job to her. I have seen her cry for her patients that struggle, now that is compassion. She has made an impact on me and she has taught me the compassion I never knew I had.
