Moe’s coworkers comments:

A. Moe has been the lead ARNP for in-patient orthopedics, and is considered an expert and mentor for nurses and MD residents. Moe extraordinary insight, patience, and caring approach are among the best there is. Moe goes out of his/her way to individualize patient care. Moe is always available to listen and respond with reason, and he/she is the central point of communication between nurses, patients, and physicians. Moe patients love her and her colleagues hold great respect for her. Moe would be a most deserving award after years of service.

B. Moe is a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award because during the many years that Moe has worked at Harborview, Moe has been an inspiration and a mentor to many nurses and a caring and capable caregiver to patients and families. Moe, through her generous support and teaching has multiplied her contributions to the caring environment. Moe has struggled with her own challenges with strength, determination and good humor. Moe current situation has served to highlight her contributions to the caring environment at Harborview Medical Center. Moe has always taken the time to really get to know her patients. Nurses have known to seek her to sort out difficult situations. Moe has shared her knowledge generously by teaching and mentoring nurses and other medical professionals. Moe is a fighter and when her patients and their families needed extra help, Moe has been there for them.

C. Moe oriented me when I started working here in Orthopedics. Moe is kind hearted. She has a wealth of knowledge of orthopedics and always has been a great resource. Patients received the best care from Moe. Moe has always been supportive of other nurses and non-judgmental.

D. Moe is the absolute gold standard for nurse practitioners. She has an extensive knowledge base, and is a fabulous teacher. She always takes the time to teach patients and staff about the orthopedic injuries we are dealing with, and is a wonderful resource for all things orthopedics. Moe was instrumental in precepting El, who moved from being a floor RN here at HMC to become an ARNP on the ortho service. Under Moe's excellent tutelage, El has also become a wonderful ARNP to work with. When Moe was hired on as Harborview's first ARNP years ago, she set the bar very high for all those who were hired after her. I cannot emphasize enough how inspiring Moe is to work with and how wonderful a person she is.

E. Moe has been a nurse at Harborview in differing capacities for over a decade. She was the first ARNP to work with the orthopedics department and established a role that has improved quality of care for the patient's, shortened length of stay, and improved communication/collaboration between nursing and the surgical teams. Because of her influence the ARNP program in orthopedics at HMC has flourished. She is passionate about nursing excellence and education for patients as well as other nurses/residents. Despite having a full schedule in her job she makes time to precept and teach (at ortho core, Shoreline CC conferences, and ARNP conferences nationwide) as well as day to day one on one instruction and encouragement with other ARNPs, RN's, and the residents. She is eager to spend time at the patient bedside, fixing problems, hearing the patient's concerns, or teaching the patient. She has a tremendous knowledge base and continues to be eager to learn new things. Moe is an excellent example of nursing at its best.

F. Moe is everything that a nurse practitioner should be. She is smart, caring, attentive and just a joy to learn from. I feel very fortunate to have been able to learn from Moe. I honestly believe that I benefited more from Moe's teaching than I did from my college education. It is because of her tutelage than I am where I am now, and am able to go where I want to go in nursing.
