I was admitted to the antepartum unit for bedrest and had a C-Section two weeks later (36.3 EGA) due to Placenta Previa with possible Accreta. It was beyond scary, and I am so thankful that everything turned out perfect. UCLA truly made this intense experience much more tolerable. The entire team was warm and caring, and they made me feel like family. I was treated with respect, dignity and compassion. As a postpartum nurse myself, I know how high the bar is set in the healthcare field and UCLA met it constantly though out my stay. So many precautionary things were put in place to create the most ideal situation and it worked!
The most memorable person during my entire stay was Maureen. She was my main RN for the day of surgery. Her smile was warm, she allowed me to cry my fears away, she stood by my side and performed guided imagery while the femoral stent procedure was taking place, and she cried with me (tears of joy!) when I went back to L&D to say goodbye the day I was discharged. She is one incredible human being and its nurses like her that made me decide to go into this profession. I honestly could not have done it without her support on that frightening day. I will be forever grateful and remember her always! Thank you Maureen!
