Mautrice Donald is an Outpatient Mental Health Nurse in the Durham VA Health Care. He was recognized because of his dedication and practice of the ICARE Values daily. Mautrice has worked both inpatient and outpatient in the Mental Health Service Line. He shows compassionate care and love for Veterans.
A Veteran experienced the loss of a loved one and arrived at the clinic tearful and distraught. Mautrice left his work and cared for this Veteran until the scheduled provider was available to see him. On another occasion, he took the time to drive a distraught co-worker to the hospital after she learned her elderly mother had been hospitalized. He refused to allow her to go alone and ensured she arrived at the hospital safely to visit her mother. These are just two examples of the love and care Mautrice puts into his work daily.
