My wife and kids were on the interstate en-route to Caldwell where we are relocating for work. Due to poor visibility related to a dust storm, they were hit from behind by a semi-truck, resulting in an ambulance ride for my wife, my step-son, and my 2 young children.
While in the emergency department the small kids were cared for by an RN named Max who is part of the story that stood out to them. They were very scared kids and Max did a great job making them feel safe and distracting them with humor and snacks. Up to that point, Dad was the funniest person they'd met, but since then, it's been all Max. He got them soda and popsicles and even got them a pizza, and overall made a standout impact on my family. This was above and beyond, in my opinion, but probably indicative of the kind of caring professional he is. I want to express deep gratitude for helping my family members feel safe, cared for, and comforted while they were evaluated for injuries.
Thank you for the work you all did. While these things probably become routine to you, it isn't for my family and you all made a positive impact as you carried out your tasks with caring humanity and authentic support.
