Max is patient and supportive with family members, communicating empathically with them over the phone.
I have been working alongside Max in the COVID ICU since earlier this fall. Max is truly an altruistic individual. Anytime someone addresses him, he responds with, “How can I help?” He supports everyone on the unit and will do anything he can to help another PCA, RN, ACP, RT, etc. Similarly, he is a knowledgeable and patient teacher, willing to explain any pathology, medication, or patient condition so that anyone involved can better understand the overall care of the patients. Among the challenges posed to us by COVID is the lack of visitation by family. He is patient and supportive with family members, communicating empathically with them over the phone. He gives them thorough updates and explains everything we are doing to help their loved ones in order to quell their anxiety. He embraces all of the various team members that rotate throughout the COVID ICU and approaches everyone with the same level of respect and compassion. He puts his heart and soul into his work, and this would be an apt recognition of his truly heroic efforts.
