Maxine spent time with him and made him feel like he wasn’t alone.
My husband was recently a patient at Mercy Medical Center Redding. Maxine was his nurse for most of his hospital stay. We both want to share our deep appreciation for her; she treated us like family and genuinely looked out for us. She treated him as if he were a family member, and that is exactly what we needed: someone to care for us like she did. It is important to my husband to be cared for as a person and not as a number. Maxine definitely loves her job and has been there for many years. She is passionate about what she does and who she cares for, no matter who you are or why you are in the hospital. She also makes the experience super comfortable for family members visiting their loved ones. She is nice, friendly, understanding, loving, and feels like a family member. This removed a huge burden for us in such a stressful time of our lives.

I honestly felt comfortable leaving my husband’s side knowing that his nurse would take great care of him, listen to his monitors, and not leave him hanging. Maxine is a nurse who ensures he is comfortable, nice, and fun, and can put up with him knowing he might be a little on edge after being bound to a hospital bed for so many days and not getting many answers. Maxine spent time with him and made him feel like he wasn’t alone. She assured him that she was doing the best she could and if she had any further information about his care, she would let us know. We live about six hours from home without help or family. Spending 6 days in the hospital wasn’t a fun experience, but Maxine was very pleasant and I am recognizing her for the amazing and outstanding work she does! I believe the entire unit deserves cinnamon rolls since they were all a blessing and so friendly! Thank you to everyone who welcomed me in every day.

Congratulations, Maxine, on receiving a 2023 DAISY Award!
