November 2016 Honoree
maxwell mirel, RN
A patient came in asking for diabetic socks and a refill on his GERD prescription. Max talked to the patient and realized his GERD was actually chest pain. The patient had associated shortness of breath, nausea and jaw pain. Max did an EKG and it showed changes consistent with an MI. The patient was admitted with non-ST elevated myocardial infarction, had a catheterization and had multiple occlusions. Max's keen assessment skills and nursing knowledge certainly contributed to managing this patient's care in an efficient manner and may very well have saved his life.
Max is an incredible asset to our team and is worthy of a DAISY Award.
