January 2026 Honoree
May Asubar, RN II
May was taking care of my postoperative hysterectomy patient on the Med-Surg floor. She and the patient noticed significant vaginal bleeding. She persistently communicated with the patient and me about her status, and she got to the bedside quickly. The patient needed to go back to the OR for a procedure to stop the bleeding. May’s persistence averted morbidity and mortality, and her demeanor kept the patient and family calm in a stressful situation. She got the patient the care that she needed quickly and compassionately. The patient and family greatly appreciated this nurse!
Thank you, May, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
