Mayla is the exemplary standard for a compassionate nurse. A couple of weeks ago we had a challenging case where the patient suffered from severe PTSD and multiple psychiatric issues. Mayla stayed with this patient on various occasions and through multiple procedures to ensure her comfort with the processes. This is something that went above and beyond her normal call of duty. The patient was quite scared of physical touch, intervention, and physical procedure. Mayla was really patient with this and spent the time with her talking through each and every intervention prior to doing anything. The patient was very comforted by her presence and grateful and thankful for everything Mayla did for her during her stay. Mayla is an outstanding example of what it means to show her patients the compassion and care that we hope to see from every nurse.
