McKayla is the most energetic person you will meet on the 6-South team but she is also consistently recognized by patients for the compassion she shows towards them and their families.

There was a patient who was homeless and due to this ended up needing to stay on 6-South for several weeks to complete their treatment. Toward the end of their hospitalization, they began to express concern about being homeless again once discharged. After caring for this patient, McKayla took it upon herself to ensure they had some supplies upon discharge. She brought in hygiene products, extra clothes, and food. This patient was known to be a little gruff but they could not stop crying and recognizing McKayla for the warmth and compassion that she showed to them.
