McKayla Hansen, BSN, RN, CRRN
Our daughter was admitted for a traumatic brain injury as the result of a dirt bike accident and could not walk or feed herself. It was a long stay, six weeks with a great ending. She walked out on her own!
We cannot emphasize enough the absolutely incredible staff on the 2nd floor! We would love to nominate all involved with our daughter, but one stands out… McKayla.
From our very first interaction with her all the way to our last day when she had her “clap out” McKayla was there. Extraordinary? Yes! She came in on her day off to be there for my daughter!
Every time she was our nurse, she showed compassion, professionalism, empathy, humor, and took care of any request we had immediately. Even on the days when she wasn’t assigned to us she always would stop by, joke with us in the halls and just make my daughter smile, laugh and feel good.
McKayla exemplifies what a DAISY nurse is - plain and simple. As parents who “lived there” for six weeks, during one of the hardest times in our lives, her constant smile brought comfort, hope and reassurance.
