This bedside nurse noticed an unusual interaction with a teen patient and prompted the provider team to follow up with a more thorough HEADDS exam. Because of this exam, an extensive sexual abuse history was discovered. The PICU team discussed this with the patient and family and was able to get the patient the help she needed with follow up through our CARE team.
