McKenna went above and beyond in her care of my mom. She was patient, responsive, and communicative.
My elderly mom fell and was transported to the ER. Thankfully, she didn't have any broken bones or new fractures, but she was in pain from her fall. They also discovered she had a UTI and began administering IV antibiotics. Mom wasn't able to stand up and walk, so she was admitted to D3, where we met McKenna.
McKenna was Mom's nurse for the first two days of mom's stay. On day one, Mom was coherent. Mom was administered morphine for her pain, however, between the narcotic and her UTI, she began to hallucinate. On day two, Mom was belligerent and way out there in her hallucinations. McKenna was an absolute gem as Mom rapidly required intervention. McKenna acted quickly, facilitated a transfer to a private room as well as a sitter, and communicated with Mom's physician to facilitate treatment with an anti-psychotic drug to counteract Mom's reaction to morphine. Even though Mom's new room wasn't one that McKenna was in charge of, she chose to continue taking care of Mom to help with continuity of care and being a familiar face to Mom. Realizing that I was becoming a target of Mom's anger, McKenna encouraged me to go home, which I did, knowing Mom was in good hands. And when her shift ended and before she headed home, she called me herself to give me an update on Mom's status.
McKenna went above and beyond in her care of my mom. She was patient, responsive, and communicative. I can't say thank you enough to her for all she did for my mom on some very dark days.
