McKenna was my nurse on the evening I was admitted. I don’t remember much about that evening other than her being very nice. On my 3rd and 4th day in the hospital, she was my nurse again, and I loved her. She ensured I had everything I needed and was efficient. She knew what medication I was going to need ahead of time as she knew my care so well and was always there with it right when symptoms started. She was constantly trying to figure out how to help with the issues I was having, and she helped me so much. I struggled to eat, and she saved the day with Ensures. She was kind, encouraging, and a great nurse. Thank you so much!

McKenna had a sweet man who was developmentally delayed. His mother was also developmentally delayed and was struggling to care for him. She was unable to help her son take his meds and get him to eat or drink. McKenna spoke up to the hospitalist with her concern for his well-being. He needed to be in a facility 24/7 to have the help he needed to care for himself. He could potentially harm himself if he didn't take the antibiotics he needed for his infection. McKenna was very patient with him and was trying to get him to take his antibiotics. McKenna's compassion and care for her patients were extraordinary, and she deserves the DAISY nomination.
