February 2025 Honoree
McKenzie A. Babb, RN
My four-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with B-ALL leukemia. During this time, everything seemed like a blur until we got to the 8 Quarterback tower. McKenzie was phenomenal. She made everything fun for my daughter, including taking her medicines, letting her "fling" her thermometer covers like a toy, and even performing "surgery" on Miss Bananas, my daughter's stuffed monkey. The day of her port placement, McKenzie took Miss Bananas back to the OR and gave her a "noodle", aka a port. My daughter thought that was the best thing ever! She was so sweet and compassionate. I shared our religious beliefs, and she asked if she could pray with us over our daughter's first chemo infusion. She checked on us each day thereafter. I personally believe that everyone is placed at Children's by God, and I am so glad to have been surrounded by such amazing staff. Miss Kenzie is absolutely a walking saving grace during this dark time of diagnosis. Everyone needs a McKenzie!
Thank you, McKenzie A., for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
