McKenzie has made a lasting impact on our family, and we will always be grateful for the compassion, expertise, and care she provided.
I am writing to nominate McKenize for the DAISY Award to honor the exceptional care and kindness she showed to my loved one during their stay on 2ES at Uniontown Hospital. As a family member, it's not easy to trust someone with the care of a loved one, but McKenize made that trust effortless. Her expertise, compassion, and dedication truly made a difference, not just for my family member but for us as a family as well.
From the moment we met McKenize, she made it clear that our loved one's comfort and well-being were her top priority. She took the time to explain everything in detail, answering our questions with patience and ensuring we felt confident in the care being provided. Her communication was not just thorough but delivered with a genuine sense of empathy that made us feel as though we were all part of the team, working together for the best outcome.
During a particularly difficult moment when my family member was feeling scared and isolated, McKenize went above and beyond. She sat with them, holding their hand, and talked to them about their fears in such a calm, soothing manner. It was clear that McKenize understood the emotional toll that illness can take, not just on the patient, but on the family as well. She made sure we felt supported, even offering resources for counseling and additional support, which we deeply appreciated.
In addition to her incredible bedside manner, McKenzie's clinical skills are exemplary. She anticipated needs before we even had to ask and was always one step ahead in providing care. Her attention to detail was evident in how she monitored medications, followed up on progress, and worked with the rest of the care team to ensure that all aspects of the treatment plan were being executed flawlessly. There were countless small moments when McKenize went out of her way to make us feel like we mattered, whether it was bringing us a cup of coffee while we were sitting by our loved one's side or taking the extra time to explain things when we were feeling overwhelmed. She treated us with such respect and kindness, showing that she truly cares about the people she cares for, not just as patients, but as individuals.
