McKinzee went above and beyond when taking care of a patient and their family in the TSICU. With the patient being in the ICU, there are no children under 12 allowed in the unit. The patient's wife and 9-month-old child had to sleep and stay in the waiting room. She allowed them both to come into the patient’s room and spend time. This family is from out of town and did not have a vehicle or the means to get to a hotel. When a hotel was set up for a family, there was no car seat for the baby, which prevented them from being able to leave. After leaving at the end of shift, McKinzee went to the store and bought a car seat appropriate for the baby and set up a ride and hotel room for the night for this mom and baby. She empathetically cared for this family and helped relieve some stress for this mom by giving them a comfortable and safe place to spend the night. This mom was very appreciative of this act of kindness from McKinzee.
