Today we coded Meagan's patient who has been sick and decompensating for a while. It was a difficult code with family in the room, lots of people, lots of effort and we, unfortunately, had to make the decision to just make the patient comfortable in the end. After Meagan did an amazing job in the code, she allowed the patient's parents time to grieve on their own without the worry of where their other children were because she was in the playroom with them. Meagan was reading books, playing games and distracting these siblings who had just lost their sister. She was encompassing this entire family with her compassion and family-centered care. On top of everything she did today, every day she is a fantastic asset to our team. She takes difficult assignments and always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. I never hear her complain and she is always willing to lend a hand. Meagan is patient with families and doesn't mind taking extra time to answer questions or explaining things to newer nurses. Meagan is a great role model and I aspire to be the kind of nurse she is.
