Henry Ford Macomb Hospital’s 2022 DAISY Team Award is presented to the ICU Unit 3500 based on several compelling nominations. Here are two excerpts that beautifully capture the spirit of this team:

The transfer to the ICU exceeded my expectations. They were kind, patient, and overwhelmingly supportive during an absolutely terrifying time. I was grateful for their compassion and attention to his needs. I felt 100% confident leaving him in their care. They were professional in their job duties but also in their support of each other with their teamwork.

My father-in-law was a chronically ill man with multiple comorbidities and a failing heart. When he was admitted to your ICU, I believe your staff knew what the ultimate outcome of his stay was going to be, yet not once did they stop doing their job. More importantly, they stood by my family every step of the way, from making sure he knew what was going on, to keeping him comfortable, as well as supporting our family’s decision to remove him from the vent to let him pass away peacefully with our entire family by his side. I truly have never experienced more compassion, support, and true kindness from any hospital staff. Your nursing staff is exceptional. You should be extremely proud of the work they perform. Being a nurse is not easy these days, but yours made it seem effortless. I hope they truly understand the impact that they make every day that they choose to walk through those ICU doors.
