Allison was with our patient and family for three tough days in the MICU. She made the experience manageable for our family on so many levels when our patient was intubated. Being in the MICU is not an easy place to work; it is not an ideal place to be in the hospital for the patient or family either, but Allison made our time there feel manageable. She is an excellent nurse but also an excellent person.

The patient's daughter, my niece, was in the hospital looking at her intubated dad on her birthday. Allison and a MICU tech, Clara, went downstairs on their lunch break and came back with a birthday cake for her. It was so sweet and thoughtful; it brought the birthday girl to tears. This is just one of the hundreds of little things that Allison, Clara, and the entire staff did for us in addition to providing excellent care for our patient.

In addition to Allison and Clara, who were mentioned, this award is deserving of everyone in the MICU who cared for Tim Morahan. Our entire family feels that we received the same level of care and compassion from all the techs, nurses, doctors, and support staff. They just didn’t take care of the patient; they took care of our entire family.

During my dad’s 10 days in the ICU, Natalie was a constant source of comfort and strength for our family. She worked diligently while showing compassion, always taking the time to explain, reassure, and treat my dad with such gentle care. Even after my dad's time in the ICU, she and Nurse Abby came to visit my dad and family in our new room to say hello and check on him.

However, this award is deserving of everyone in the MICU who cared for Tim Morahan. Our entire family feels that we received the same level of care and compassion from all the techs, nurses, doctors, and support staff. They just didn’t take care of the patient; they took care of our entire family.

Thank you for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
