Congratulations to the Med-Surg team at Vidant Chowan for being selected for The DAISY Team Award! The nomination was submitted for the personalized, compassionate care that they provided a patient in their final days in their Palliative Care Suite. The nomination recognized the team members for their commitment to making their patient's final Christmas requests come true. The Chowan team came together to create Christmas magic through the patient's eyes - to eat ribs and cornbread in front of a Christmas tree with a visit from Santa Claus. The team cooked the specially requested menu and provided the patient with homemade cornbread and famous ribs and a surprise visit from Santa! The patient and family were grateful to the team for making a memorable experience for all those involved. The nomination closes with "we are personally and professionally better people for having witnessed humanity at its finest as a little Christmas magic reminded us that kindness and compassionate health care is still alive and well!"
