I observed Meg comb her hair from the sofa in the room. That was such a caring moment.
What stood out most to me about Meg was her amazing bedside manner. She made my mother feel safe. She never made my mother feel rushed. Always spoke such kind words to my mother. She listened to my mother’s needs and the family’s needs regardless of how busy she might have been. Her candid nature made it very easy to talk to her. If she was really busy she always checked in and had others tend to the needs of my mother. She stayed on top of things. It wasn’t special treatment but just how she takes care of the needs of the patient.

She cared for my mother, a nurse veteran of over 25 years. Meg reminded me of my mother as a young nurse. Meg clearly loves nursing and the patients she serves. The world needs many more Megs! My mother wanted her hair kept and would comb her hair frequently when in the bathroom. My mother was having a hard time reaching the back of her hair. Meg took the comb and combed her hair calmly, lovingly, as she complimented my mother on her hair. My mother smiled and it made her heart happy. I observed Meg comb her hair from the sofa in the room. That was such a caring moment. I am a strong advocate for my mother and so was Meg. It’s not only about giving meds but about going out of your way when you see a need and Meg did that daily. We will miss Meg and the level of care she provided.
