Meg brings unwavering support and genuine kindness to each staff member as she makes it a point to greet everyone in the morning with a basket of candy.
Meg has recently joined the ICU at RiverBend Hospital as the Medical ICU Nurse Manager. In her time here, she quickly made every effort to cultivate a genuine connection with the staff. I have worked in the ICU for several years and watched our unit culture dwindle due to the challenges and loss of core staff. Unfortunately, since COVID and the escalating nature of our patient acuity and patient-on-nurse violence, our staff and staffing ratios continued to burden and displace nurses from what was once their dream job. Leaving them with a deep sense of failure and lack of support in a job that once gave them a profound sense of reward.

Meg brings unwavering support and genuine kindness to each staff member as she makes it a point to greet everyone in the morning with a basket of candy. She makes her morning rounds to check in with the night shift at 0500 every day with a winning attitude and caring heart. Since Meg's arrival, several seasoned nurses have changed their minds about leaving PeaceHealth. She has proven her dedication to the staff and our community by making herself available twenty-four hours a day, no matter what day it is, and most importantly, when patient staffing ratios were unsafe. Her consistent commitment in a time of need has been extraordinary time and time again. To put it simply, Meg is single-handedly reviving our unit culture. I believe it will not be long before our core staff numbers increase and our retention skyrockets, as many of our traveler nurses admit- they, too, have never seen such remarkable leadership.
