I rounded on a patient who is a current heart patient, transferred from ICU now recovering in PCU. He said his hospital stays have been extremely hard with no visitors and he has missed his wife and family dearly. When he was here a week to 10 days ago with COVID, Megan Allen sat with him, got to know him, and held his hand. He repeatedly choked back tears as he described how important the comfort of Megan's presence and compassion meant to him. "She became my family."
