Megan has been instrumental in the care provided to our son as a primary nurse, liaison, and advocate. This has brought about a lot of progress in his health and well-being. She is full of compassion and empathy while interacting with our child as well as interacting with us. She listens and offers great advice. At the same time, she is considerate of challenges that arise.
I could go on for days about all the reasons why Megan is a truly amazing nurse and a wonderful person. She is extremely organized, efficient, and detail oriented which dramatically improves patient care for our complex pediatric patients with intestinal failure and inflammatory bowel disease. I can think of numerous occasions where Megan’s patient care coordination skills have led to improved patient outcomes. She spends countless hours on the phone helping to expedite specialty infusion medication authorization at various infusion centers across Northern California to help our patients who do not have the ability to come to UC Davis for monthly infusions. She always plans ahead for our multidisciplinary intestinal failure clinics to ensure patients have had their laboratory testing completed with visits and will follow up with families to ensure seamless communication about any TPN or medication adjustments that were made during the visits. She goes above and beyond every day to provide excellent patient care and has the most warm and supportive bedside manner. She will give special toys to our patients with chronic illnesses around the holidays, spend extra time on patient education if a family is struggling with understanding feeding instructions or G-tube care, and approach each patient encounter with joy and warmth. She brings a compassionate, enthusiastic spirit to the pediatric gastroenterology division, and she improves the lives of our patients every day. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with Megan!

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to share our experience in working with Megan.
By late November of 2021, my son had lost a substantial amount of weight in a short period of time. A multitude of tests and doctors' visits were required to determine what illness he didn't have, so that we could get closer to an actual diagnosis. Megan understands and has compassion for parents and their children during these times of fear, confusion, and uncertainty about what lies ahead. When she told us she was going to find a way to get procedures scheduled quickly, she did. When we had questions, she would thoroughly answer them in a timely fashion. When we learned about my son's Crohn's Disease, she taught us how to use the injection pen to administer his medication and patiently and compassionately let me cry when we had to use it for the first time. She just understands what her patients are going through and helps them through the process.
When an insurance issue arises, she provides the necessary paperwork and gets it cleared up quickly. Megan cares about her patients as well as the concerns of the parents, so she goes above and beyond to make sure things are taken care of swiftly and accurately. We are delighted in knowing that UC Davis and Dr. Haas know they have a gem on staff and are recognizing her for her excellence.

It is an honor for our family to recommend Megan for the DAISY Award, for her positive engagement and service to our family and other families that she encounters. We have had the pleasure of experiencing her care and compassion for over two years.
Megan is a great communicator, always available through phone calls or texts, liaises with the physicians and other interdisciplinary teams on our behalf, and provides feedback in a timely manner.
She goes above and beyond to ensure our little one is comfortable during clinic days, helps troubleshoot on non-clinic days, and follows up to check on his progress, especially if there is a change in the treatment plan. She is dedicated. If there are any issues with orders or prescription refills from pharmacy, she makes sure they are resolved timely. With Megan, you never miss an appointment because she takes her time to call and provide reminders. She also makes sure the appointment times work for the family, allowing for flexibility.
Megan has made our journey easy to bear because she takes the time and has the patience to listen, act, show love, and anticipate needs pertaining to our child’s care.
We wish her well and celebrate her for being a kind, passionate, and caring nurse!!
