Megan made me feel supported throughout the entire journey and formed a relationship with me that I will never forget.
Megan Buchanan was the sunshine at Boston Children’s while my family and I were going through a very hard time. My baby was airlifted to Boston from two states away after failing the 24-hour newborn test. I, being a new mother, had to discharge myself 30 hours after a C-section. Leaving my hospital and going to another one was terrifying. Megan made me feel supported throughout the entire journey and formed a relationship with me that I will never forget. She taught me how to pump, was there every day to help prepare my daughter to latch once she was able to be held and fed again, and helped me learn how to breastfeed. I would have lost my supply within the first week without the lactation department. During our stay, I could only feed my baby by breast once a day due to the fortified milk she needed and the energy it required. Fast forward to six months later, and my baby and I breastfeed 100% and only do bottles here and there. I felt supported during feedings, and she was also there for me emotionally. This was the hardest time of my life, but I am thankful for the support I had from Megan. Although my daughter was the focus and the patient, she cared for me too as a patient, and that helped my mental health more than anyone could ever know. We love Megan.
