We are no strangers to the pediatric healthcare world. We already have three children, two of which have multiple special needs and have required various surgeries and hospital stays over the years. We have had lots of great nurses, therapists, doctors, but one stands out as being truly exceptional. Our littlest guy was born with severe hydrocephalus. After shunt surgery at one day old, he spent about a month in the NICU. During that time, he frequently had Megan as his nurse, and from the first day, it was very obvious just how well she cared for him and for me. She was extremely sweet, while also being exceptionally competent in the specific details of his care. It may seem small, but it is something that meant a lot to me at the time. I am so grateful that she acknowledged my concerns and advocated on our behalf in a timely manner!
