Megan is the nurse I want to be. She is kind and goes above and beyond every single day. During the COVID-19 crisis, Megan not only showed up but even took on extra shifts to help ease the burden on fellow co-workers. On the most hectic days in the ER, Megan is calm, cool, and collected. I have seen this nurse be cursed at by intoxicated patients and she has always responded calmly and kindly. She is quick to respond to any patient request regardless if it is "her" patient or not. This makes perfect sense because you can clearly tell that Megan thinks of all our patients as her patients and truly cares about their health and safety. When I was new to the ER, Megan answered every question I had without hesitation. I have often wondered if she ever gets irritated in life because I have never seen it. Megan takes her duty as charge nurse very seriously and does any and everything possible to address patient needs while also assisting the floor nurses. Our department, our hospital, and especially our patients are certainly lucky to have her.
