Megan has been my dad’s nurse for the past month on 3 separate hospitalizations. She always spoke to my father softly, respectfully, and at his eye level. His cancer diagnosis has rapidly progressed to the point that he cannot recognize her and thank her for being kind and loving. Today, she helped shower my dad and had no concern about stepping in water to help make sure he was cleaned and felt good about his body. He slept for several hours after being so restless in the last 4 days. She always places her hand on his shoulder softly and cues into what he’s going through even if he’s unable to verbalize it. Her care didn’t stop with my dad. She always asked how she could help my sisters and me.
