March 2026 Honoree
Megan Dong, BSN
I'm a trans woman who was brought in for a kidney infection that had been incapacitating me for several weeks prior to admission, and as a result, my self-care had fallen by the wayside.
Megan was completely respectful of my gender identity the entire time and did everything she could to help make me feel comfortable, like providing masks until I was capable of self-care again, and then providing an electric razor so I could safely and easily shave. Thanks to her considerate behavior I was able to relax and be completely candid about me needs and what was happening with my body, which became especially important when I developed a lump in my groin after transferring units that needed to be landed and the surgeon who took care of it said was really good that I informed them because that sort of thing can "land people in the operating room".
This was all in addition to providing fantastic care generally; her attentiveness, patience, and knowledge were exceptional and made a world of difference in a very serious medical situation.

Thank you, Megan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
