Megan Dubois is a progressive care unit nurse. It is always an absolute pleasure to care for patients with her. Her commitment to providing compassionate personalized care has not gone unnoticed. She truly embodies the highest standards of nursing excellence and human kindness. Recently, we cared for a patient who was hospitalized with respiratory failure related to COVID-19 and pneumonia who had multiple serious medical comorbidities. Megan learned from our patient that his significant other was on hospice care at a different facility. She took it upon herself and arranged for him to speak with her. He told her the next day how grateful he was for this exceptional act of kindness. As it turned out, his journey also ended on hospice care at the same facility and he was able to spend his last few days with his significant other. It is nurses like Megan who make a difference in patient's lives and uphold our values as a ministry. Human kindness heals. When we are kind, it inspires others and starts a ripple effect of positivity. It helps us live our value of compassion by reaching out to those in need.
