Megan truly appreciates her team and everyone else around her because she knows all of our combined experiences make us stronger.
Influenced nursing standards and professional practice:

Megan Durkin leads with integrity, transparency, loyalty, and takes great pride in the quality of the work she produces. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her efforts reduce the stress load on her team. She is known to share credit for successes with her team while recognizing the contributions of the team and capitalizing on the strengths of each individual.

Megan joined the education and professional development team and has led with a very high level of emotional intelligence. She has quickly gone to work to close the transition-to-practice gap for nurses transitioning to specialty units and for newly licensed registered nurses. She co-led the complete redesign and delivery of a preceptor development program.

Megan was instrumental in the new graduate draft day and went far above and beyond the scope of her duties to help identify preceptors to support the onboarding. I am confident that she will continue to follow through on supporting the new graduates and preceptors. She is an exceptional problem-solver, creates solutions for, and inspires us all with her accomplishments. Megan trusts in the goodness, intelligence, and capabilities of those she serves. She is a natural leader.

Megan is dedicated to elevating the nursing practice at our organization. She has participated in multiple professional development activities since her joining this team and frequently seeks and accepts feedback. She accepts constructive feedback with the same zest, attentiveness, and reception as she does compliments. She is as dedicated to her own professional development, role modeling lifelong learning, as she is to the growth and support of others.

Megan exhibits intuitive, adaptive, and agile leadership that enables her to adjust to multidimensional challenges and landscapes. She shares heartfelt concern for the well-being of patients, healthcare providers, and her team. Her work ethic is unmatched. You can absolutely could on Megan to deliver a high-quality product in a quantity that I am unsure how she can keep up.

Megan has navigated her transition into a leadership role with impressive natural abilities and competence. She navigates relationships and difficult conversations at a level above the average of an experienced leader. She stays committed to her purpose and is focused on the care of the staff and remains connected to the mission of serving the patients.

It is a joy to work with Megan and unbelievable to watch her work. I would work with her ANY day in ANY role! I have genuine gratitude for her contributions to the nursing profession and her team. It is a privilege to get the opportunity to work with her!

Inspires nurses to achieve excellence in nursing practice:

Megan has an unparalleled relentless commitment to positively contribute to better patient care. Her influence is felt in shared governance and she advocates for the needs of the nursing team. She facilitates and educates in a way that is well-received by the students. She has run with leading nursing orientation and that is yet another example of how she is reliable and dependable. She is a great mentor to nurses and is a visionary for what could be. When I count my blessings every day, Megan is ALWAYS among them.

Megan Durkin has been a teammate of mine in the Education Department since April of 2023 and I honestly couldn't ask for anyone better to work with. Prior to her new role, she was a hardworking, skilled, and compassionate ED charge nurse, something that I experienced firsthand as a patient while she was on duty. These attributes along with her knowledge, thoughtfulness, and determination have made the transition into her new position as an Education Program Coordinator appear seamless. In the short amount of time in her new role, she has helped develop a new preceptor program, has been instrumental in creating the new New Grad cohort program, helps in training new ICU and ED interns, conducts classes for ED nurses, spearheaded matching preceptors w/ the incoming new graduate RNs and is a member of multiple committees.

Megan has shown to be a true leader and has adapted to her position extremely well and she has shown loyalty, eagerness, devotion, and dedication in every aspect of her role. Whether it's the new grads, new staff, current staff, leadership, MDRH, or the nursing profession as a whole, Megan has shown how much they all mean to her and she goes above and beyond making sure that everyone involved benefits from the hard work she puts in. Megan also knows her limitations and seeks out feedback and knowledge from others because she values and respects everyone's opinions, insight, and experience. Megan truly appreciates her team and everyone else around her because she knows all of our combined experiences make us stronger.

Megan is also extremely modest and would say she doesn't think she's done much or isn't making an impact but I have seen what she has done and she deserves all the accolades that are coming her way. The amount of positive feedback that Megan has received from leadership and staff has been incredible. They have all seen how amazing she is, the quality of work she has done, and how important she is to our organization now and going forward. She is truly an incredible nurse, leader, teammate, and person and I'm extremely grateful and fortunate that we all get to work with her and see her talents flourish.

We are so appreciative of Megan and her leadership, and she is setting the stage for the future of nursing! We shared reading this to her because everyone became choked up!
