March 2026 Honoree
Megan Estacio, BSN, RN
I came in for a spinal surgery, have been in extreme discomfort and pain for the past couple of days. I must say everyone who has been taking care of me day and night has been extremely kind and attentive, but for me personally, Megan really went the extra mile, beyond what should be expected, without having to ask.
I have had my family here and other visitors; every single time she came into the room, she greeted us all with a warm smile and explained to them and me what she was doing and how she was taking care of me. When I met her, she introduced herself and went over my medicine and kept coming back to check on me to see if I needed anything at all and if I was comfortable.
Megan was very gentle and warm, and I really appreciated her attentiveness. She is personable and made me feel really comfortable despite my situation and high levels of pain. She brought me extra blankets and pillows to make me feel more comfortable and was very patient with me.
What really stood out to me the most was that it was already past the time she was meant to go home and she still came over to me to say goodbye, she noticed that the blue cooler that is connected to my belt which kept my back cold already had melted all of the ice. She took it away, refilled it, and made sure I was okay before she went home.
I was touched to know that she was already meant to be going home but decided to stay extra minutes to help me.
