Megan is a new nurse, but her knowledge and expertise make it seem like she has years of experience.
Megan was my dedicated, compassionate RN during Labor Day weekend. Megan was surprised to learn that she had Monday, Labor Day off, not realizing that her regular workday was a holiday. This explains how committed she is to her nursing profession. I think she gets into her work mode of 10 or 12 hour shifts and relates to her patients so well, being concerned with their welfare, that her mind and heart are preoccupied. Perhaps a holiday isn’t a priority.

Megan is a new nurse, but her knowledge and expertise make it seem like she has years of experience. The Doctor and Megan made sure that I understood the new drugs I was taking after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure. One of the new drugs is a diuretic. Megan told me that I shouldn’t attempt to go to the bathroom without her or another medical attendant. She didn’t want me to fall. She administered injections gently and effectively explaining the purpose of the medicine. Before I was discharged, she compiled a packet & “After Visit Summary”. When my husband would walk with me on the floor to get some exercise, I observed her and other nurses at their laptops in the hallway. This packet is so essential to the patient after returning home. She explained the pages in the packet to me. There are pages to record my weight daily, meds taken each day, and how I feel each day going forward. She included in the packet, information about my new meds, possible side effects, why the medicine is needed, etc. She took the time to highlight information that was pertinent to me. For example- “Call your doctor now or seek medical care if the following occurs. She handwrote throughout the packet, notes to me that were extremely beneficial. Example: Take blood pressure before Lasix and metoprolol (if under 100/60 don’t give/call doctor).

Megan made my 2-night stay at Hillcrest Hospital/Prisma much easier. She was receptive to my questions about where she attended college and when she began their career. Because she was so knowledgeable, competent, diligent, and personable, I am sure Megan will receive many accolades. I was blessed to have her as my nurse.
