Sometimes at Thompson, we get those "long-term patients," and a lot of the time, they are not our favorite. Megan, however, can connect with these patients. One patient had a very long stay and was known to be difficult to work with. Megan immediately put all that aside and treated them with a blank slate. She spent time talking with them to hear their complaints, feelings, and helped them process the difficult decisions and thoughts they were dealing with. She also spent this time with patients significant other. Family expressed their gratitude whenever she cared for the patient and made a point of informing the provider of the excellent care she provided to their loved one after the patient was no longer with us. Megan took the time to have the staff color pictures for the patient and even brought in a little Christmas tree for them, complete with ornaments. These little acts of kindness are prime examples of how amazing a nurse she is to all her patients. Megan made a significant impact on this patient and their significant other and deserves recognition for this.
