Megan is from the PIC team. Amazing kind, caring, warm, comforting, and a comic relief are just a few of the many adjectives that come to mind when describing her. To me, Megan is not just a Valley Hospital Nurse, more importantly, she is a safe space, a friendly face, a person who can help me find and stay balanced in some very scary and anxiety producing medical situations.

To be short, I have experienced 3 very long stays here in Valley Hospital. To date, I have had 8 surgeries, chemo infusions, and too much lab work to keep track of. I also suffer from severe panic/anxiety disorders. Because I have horrible veins and have PTSD from so many needles, bruising, pain, missed veins, I often times have horrible panic attacks that often lead to mortifying meltdowns. But never with Megan. She has a beautiful gift of empathy, understanding, and a huge heart.

When I begin to get anxious, Megan stays calm, cool, and collected. She always knows just what to do to help me whether it be telling me something funny, chatting with me about my career, letting me get a cry or some feelings out before we begin, or even sometimes, mutual silence. My medical journey so far has been quite scary and over whelming to say the least and I don't know how I would endure all of this without having Megan in my corner. I certainly wouldn't be smiling and laughing during needle days, that's for sure. I can list plenty of kind nurses here at Valley, but nobody compares to Megan. She goes way above and beyond for me and it simply means everything to me.

Thank you, Megan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
