Megan’s quick, clear thinking and actions saved his life.
With tornado sirens blaring, my husband and I sped into Good Samaritan Hospital’s Emergency Room. Megan Howard was working in triage. We thought my husband had a kidney stone with symptoms of an excruciating backache intensifying by the second. Megan’s quick, clear thinking and actions saved his life. She recognized that he could have something other than what we thought and alerted the medical professionals necessary to get the correct diagnosis. Time was of the essence. It turned out that he was experiencing something more serious. She immediately took charge in voice and action. She was concise, professional, and in control – much to my relief.
While preparing my husband for a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis, Megan was informative and comforting. She was respectful and kind to us throughout the entire event and she followed up with us to ensure we had everything that we needed in the days that followed his surgery. My husband made it! The surgeon told us that only 5% of those with similar symptoms and this diagnosis survive. If it wasn’t for Megan’s instincts – who knows? Maybe we wouldn’t have been so lucky. She is amazing and we are forever grateful to her.
