A nurse is someone who is trained to care for the sick. Although all nurses stand out by the training they have in providing patient care, to stand out in a group of so many is extremely impactful. I have been on this floor for almost two weeks, and so many nurses have provided care for me. Her compassion and commitment to my care gave me the extra push to do more. She not only provided care, she understood my pain and needs. She set goals for me and, most importantly, followed through not only with my care but focused on my concerns; she listened! She took the time to make me feel respected and comfortable. Her goal-setting gave me the extra push to get up and meet my goals and work towards recovery. She was not only my nurse to provide care; she performed it with the use of listening, understanding, empathy, and, most of all, compassion. I'm on my road to recovery, and your compassionate care helped me to be the driver in my recovery journey. Thank you for walking beside me!
