As I was taking a patient to the elevator after competency carnival, we saw a couple coming off the elevator with what looked to be a baby. The visitor I was with said "Oh, a baby" and the couple told us the following story. "My mom is a patient upstairs and has dementia. She was having a bad day and the nurse made this baby as a way to help keep her calm. It was very sweet of her and mom made sure I promised to take care of the baby tonight and that I wouldn't let anything happen to it. It was such an amazing gesture." Going above and beyond to help our patients is the definition of what this award means. The patient may never realize the extent but Megan Martin made a family so much more comfortable with leaving their loved one and knew she was in the best hands. Excellent job.
