I would like to recognize Nurse Megan for the outstanding care and compassion she showed during my son’s recent wrist surgery. As a parent, I was understandably nervous — my 13-year-old son has always received care at children’s hospitals, so coming to a general facility was a big change.

From the moment we arrived, Nurse Megan went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and at ease. She greeted us with a cheerful, personalized pillow for my son and a warm, reassuring attitude that immediately helped calm our nerves. Megan took the time to speak to my son in a gentle, age-appropriate way, carefully explaining each step and ensuring he felt comfortable and understood.

Her attention extended to me as well — when I mentioned in passing that I hadn’t had time to grab coffee, she brought me a cup without hesitation. That level of kindness and attentiveness made such a difference during a stressful morning. Even though we were running behind after getting lost on the way, Megan never rushed us. Instead, she continuously reassured us that everything was fine and made sure we felt supported.
