Ms. Pirnik demonstrated patience, compassion, and tremendous savvy with the patient, family, and physicians when recently caring for one of our postoperative patients. This was a young child with difficult behaviors and developmental delay who continued to have emesis for several days following a tonsillectomy. Megan was committed to the care of the patient, ensuring her pain was controlled and gently directing her to meet her postoperative oral feeding goals. Additionally, with a language barrier, she was understanding and supportive of our patient's mother, who was very frustrated with her daughter's prolonged recovery and hospitalization. It was clear that the mother trusted Megan and her care of the patient. On top of all of this, Megan was excellent with our surgical team and multiple consulting physicians and communicating a plan coherently and consistently with the family through the language barrier. I was very impressed with her professionalism, care, and rapport with the patient, and I'm thrilled to see her caring for my postoperative patients. Thank you, Megan!
