May 2023 Honoree
Megan Reid Sloan, RN, BSN, RN-BC
Megan was caring for a patient admitted to the hospital whose dog had been taken to the pound. The man was very concerned for his dog's wellbeing so Megan called the pound to check on the dog. The pound informed Megan that if someone did not pick up the dog the same day he would be put down. With the patient's permission, Megan went and picked up the dog and kept him at her house until the patient was discharged. The patient and his dog were able to be reunited and Megan said the dog jumped into the man's arms. Nurses care for patients but sometimes patient care includes those that a patient loves. Megan went above and beyond standard care for her patient.
Thank you, Megan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
