Megan Staples is a nurse on the Cardiac Care Unit at Beverly Hospital who is described by colleagues as "tireless in her pursuit to perfect the care she provides to patients". Known for her compassion for both patients and fellow staff members, Staples is a "true team player" who is always available to lend a helping hand. "She exemplifies what nursing care should be, and she does so on a daily basis," a nominator notes.

A recent example involved a patient who said being confined to a hospital room and feeling very alone made him want to give up. Staples listened and talked with him, got him out of bed with multiple lines and chest tubes, and walked with him in the hall. The patient's demeanor changed immediately; he became talkative and engaged, wanted to walk further, and began to talk about going to events "when he got better".
