Megan demonstrated an abundance of compassion during a very difficult time for a patient. This patient had two recent TBIs, hearing and vision deficits and unfortunately had dementia. Through the entire shift, Megan took the extra time to care and sit bedside with the patient. As the patient became increasingly restless, Megan exhausted every tool she had in her nursing bag to intervene and help the patient. Throughout the night she did everything she could to prevent falls and decrease delirium in a patient who was at high risk for both. Megan's tireless effort helped facilitate a multidisciplinary care conference for the patient's changing prognosis for a safe discharge home with family. Megan's above and beyond excellence in patient-centered care inspired me.
