While my birthing experience did not go as planned, it could have gone far worse if it were not for Megan being my nurse. I was induced due to severe pre-eclampsia and came to the unit right before shift change. Due to the pre-eclampsia, I was placed on continuous medication that kept me in bed and also a little out of it. Megan helped guide me through every step of the process and made sure I was ready for each next step.

My birth plan went out the window, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to manage labor now. I am not sure what I would have done without her help. She informed me of positions I could get in for pain and helped me into them. She kept an excellent eye on my baby to make sure he was okay. She communicated with the doctors to make sure I got what I needed, and the plan was communicated to me. She guided me through the epidural and all the other procedures I had done. She made sure I was informed of options and what was going to happen at all times. I felt very safe during the whole experience because Megan guided me through it all, and she was always calm and collected.

Right before 7 pm, shift change, it was decided that I needed an urgent C-section because my baby was in distress. Megan stayed past her end of shift to guide me through the C-section process and even took pictures for us of the baby being delivered that we will cherish forever. She went above and beyond for us, and I can’t even put into words the gratitude I feel for her and her help during a scary process! She was everything a nurse should be and more! I will always be thankful for her help!
