July 2020 Honoree
megan wierzbowski, RN
Megan was the RN responsible for Baby Boy H. A possible discharge plan was being worked on.
It was noted, however, on a previous shift that he did not pass his car-seat trial. With this information and Megan's astute assessment, she collaborated with the NICU providers.
Megan advocated for him and discussed her observations with the NICU physicians. Due to her advocacy, an ECHO was completed.
The results of the ECHO showed Baby Boy H had a life-threatening heart defect. Due to Megan's observations, communication, and following her "gut feeling" Baby Boy H remained safely in the hospital and obtained necessary treatment.
Great job Megan!
