Megen cared for a patient who had a medical event while working outdoors near one of our large, very deep lakes. While caring for him, she learned that he had dropped an expensive tool in the water, which was too deep to retrieve. Megen happens to be SCUBA certified, and on her time off, she went to the location where the tool was lost and dove down to retrieve it from the lake. She was able to return the tool to the patient, preventing him from experiencing additional hardship due to the need to replace it. This is just one example of the many ways Megen supports our community, including activities such as volunteering for safety outreach programs and assisting homebound individuals with grocery deliveries. In this example, Megen demonstrated true compassionate care by connecting with her patient, getting to know him beyond his medical issue, and using her non-nursing skills to make a difference in his life.
