When I first arrived into my room Meghan said that she didn't want to ask, "how are you doing?" because I was obviously in pain and had a hard time standing and breathing, but she wanted to know because she needed to know how to help and in that first minute I knew she cared about doing it. That meant a lot to me. She was very calm and the tone of her voice was pleasant and the way she said things made me feel as if she not only listened to what I said but that she really did hear me, she made sure I understood our conversations by simply asking me if I had any questions at least a couple times, at the end of each different topic or discussion.
I had a severe migraine at the time and no matter who it was that came into the room she very politely made sure they understood that. The courtesy of others throughout the night carried on I feel because the importance of my issues was relayed by her to other people.
She made me laugh; any question I had for her she answered and took the time to answer. She never made me feel like she was busy or rushing away from my room in any situation. She made me feel important. She never made me feel any request was too big. She would always ask what else she could do even if I had asked her for ten things already.
As I have told her a number of times, because its one of the only things I am able to remember well, my medication stupid topomax causes memory issues, I am probably forgetting so many other wonderful things I could say about her. I just want you, her manager, the charge nurse and of course the other staff to know how respectful, understanding and thoughtful she was to me and it has left a long lasting impression.
Thank you Meghan for everything have done, and in the many ways in such a short period of time you have made me feel so much better.
